happiness

so, i realized today, while driving to hang out with some friends.... that my life is absolutely superb. there is not a thing that i would change about my life. where i am in life. where i've been. where i'm going. i love it all.

but not just that. life is truly beautiful. as i drove today.. i couldn't help but notice the blue blue sky on my way to wausau. and the beautiful black night dotted with thousands of stars. life is too wonderful to be taken lightly. or to not enjoy every moment of it.

listening to the Wicked soundtrack on my way home i got a line stuck in my head "Because happy is what happens, when all your dreams come true." but i'm not sure i totally agree with that statement. because i'm happy... and all of my dreams sure haven't come true. but thankfully, i'm GLAD they didn't all come true. i'm glad i'm not married right now. i'm glad i moved to wisconsin. i'm glad... i worked today. i'm glad i have the friends i have. happiness isn't when all you're dreams come true.

like the quote says "happiness is nothing more than good health and a bad memory."

i disagree! with BOTH statements.

happiness is a choice. happiness is a lifestyle. happiness is knowing who you are, where you came from, and where you're going (in the eternal perspective, not the earthly haha) sure sometimes you aren't happy. i AM a psych major... i understand psychological disorders. i know sometimes it's not your fault you're depressed. but i know that everyone has happiness in their lives. and sometimes we're too focused on the bad things to realize the good things.

good things like:
bracelet made by a two year old.
blue skies.
friendly smiles and hugs.
jumper cables for missionaries.
finding a gas station as soon as you notice your empty light is on.
making new friends.

most days, i would think nothing of those things. but today... i just love it.

so... just remember. life is too wonderful to be taken lightly. you just need to try and find the happiness in life.. and hold on to it with all your might! (just like the iron rod)
