Warning. if you are republican living in the state of Wisconsin you probably will not appreciate this blog post.
wow. thank you freaking republican governor for trying to ruin my familys lives.
the fact that this ridiculous state governor has made it all the way to an article in the New York Times is NOT a good thing.
this guy said from the very beginning, state employees didn't pay as much as the private sector for health care premiums and pensions. so he said he was going to change that. make the state employees pay more of 'their share' but did everyone that voted for him consider the fact that the private sector MAKES MORE money than the state employees?!
and what about the unions!? really. people have the RIGHT to collective bargaining. it isn't a privilege. it's a RIGHT. and he's making it so difficult that it may not be possible.
he would make these union workers negotiate their contracts every single year. and he would limit the already limited raises of state employees and teachers.
OH but dont worry. because law enforcement and firefighters aren't a part of that. because they supported this guy while he was running for office, they are exempt from some of these harsh cuts. i guess i didn't realize 'you scratch my back, i'll scratch yours' had gotten to this point, where your'e except from things just for supporting him.
“In these tough times, I think people are going to feel that this is not that much to ask,” said Jeff Fitzgerald, the Republican speaker of the State Assembly. “Everyone is going to have to pitch in.”
kind of ironic that he says that, since from what i see... they're only making the public employees pay. if they really wanted EVERYONE to pitch in, they'd raise taxes. but guess what, republicans don't believe in raising taxes. so they're gonna pick some portion of the state and make them suffer more than everyone else.
what bugs me about this is... this means my dad will be paying an extra $500 a month to all this crap. $500 is more than a car payment. it's about the cost of a mortgage. so does this guy have a plan for our family, when we can't pay our mortgage because he's taking all the money. OH and dad came home and explained something else to me. so dad is a teacher. he works 9 months out of the year. but he has to pay all these things 12 months a year. so in june, when he gets his last pay check, to cover june, july, and august... it will be $1500 from one pay check. that... kinda really sucks.
sigh. okay. that's my rant. i'm sorry if i accidentally offended anyone with this blog. it's my personal opinion.

Never apologize for offending someone with your words when it's on your blog. If they're offended by what you feel, then be it. You have every right to your feelings and opinions. I love that you care so deeply for your family's welfare. It's as it should be! Love you sweetie.
Totally agree, and it's the actual family stories that make this super real. Another professor I had laid it all out in a note on their fb page. This is actually bringing to my attention that we really UNDERPAY all of our professors.
My (not) favorite part of Walkers latest shenanigans is that he'll have the National Guard step in to take over and handle state duties if necessary. Because, you know, the National Guard is really qualified to take over your dad's job. And all the other UW professors. Oh wait, that's right - Walker hates UW, doesn't see the importance (he didn't even finish his bachelors), and pretty much wants to destroy the system anyway.

Way to voice your opinion!!! I hope more people get on board to stop what your governor is doing! It seems like the Republican leaders are making a mess out of everything. California raised their taxes but that still didn't help with the lack of money Arnold threw away. My mom being a librarian was on the verge of losing her job because for some reason the Republicans believe it easier to start with the education department, when it should start at the top and cut those jobs. For some odd reason, no one cares about the bottom feeders that are considered educators because they want free babysitters. When are we all going to understand our country was not built by corrupt people…
