i went to the ward service project tonight! tony had the car, so i walked to the chapel to meet with everyone for carpooling. 3 people showed up. but we got to the building, on Welfare Square, and it was awesome! we had originally planned to work with the dairy (i was definitely intrigued to find out what that would include) but turns out we worked with the vanilla pudding instead.
we packed 48 packages into boxes. but we had a machine to fold and tape the boxes for us. we had machines pushing out all the packages. it was was fun!! we got to laugh, get to know each other, and do service all at the same time! i left there feeling so great! and, the part carol loved the most when i told her: there were 2 girls and 5 or 6 guys! haha. i honestly didn't focus on that, i was just so happy to be serving.
something like this is such a blessing to the entire world. i learned about this oatmeal/porridge stuff the church sends out to 3rd world countries. they give it to lots of people, but especially to those kids that have the huge bloated stomachs because of starvation and dehydration. and in a few months of eating this stuff, the kids are back to looking like normal kids. that explanation almost put me in tears. i LOVE all the stuff this church does for the world. and we dont even hear about it!! it's not like the church goes around bragging about everything they do to help. but i wish there was a way to find out more of what the church does for the world. I went to a Devotional once at BYUI, it was days after a huge national disaster, i want to say in Haiti but i can't remember for sure. And Elder Nelson (?) gave a great rundown of everything the church was doing. how many plane fulls of food and resources the church had sent. and how many more they were planning on sending. and just all the wonderful things they were doing. and it was so great to hear!!
i love this church!! i love service!!
i took tony to lunch/dinner. he picked me up from work, we stopped at his house so he could get his tv and xbox, we stopped at my hosue so i could change, we went to Costa Vida for lunch (seriously not as good as Bajio), then we went to drop me off at work... turns out i didn't have to work today. so he dropped me off. but i got to spend over an hour with him. we talked about him going to college a little bit more. i really hope we can get something for him to do. he is worried about going to college or tech school because he doesn't know what he wants to do. mom said he needs to go focus on something that would give him a career, which is true. but it's scared him away. i'm trying to help coax him back into wanting to go. i pray he does.
there was no Glee or New Girl tonight. liz and i were upset. i was kind of distraught. but i finally figured it out! Baseball. it'll be a few weeks before it's back. oh wells. we'll get to watch it again eventually.
November 3rd Bones starts again!! season 7! and i JUST found out.. season 6 is out on DVD! i know what i'll be buying soon, and watching almost constantly! ahh!! i need to get ready for season 7. and maybe i'll actually be able to dvr it and watch them! tee hee.
highlight of teaching today: i asked my two very hyper 2nd graders why they were with me.
boy 1 response: so you can help us learn espanol!
i said: no, i'm helping you learn to read and write better in english.
boy 2: whats english?
me: we are speaking english. but you know espanol too.
boy 1: ohhh you know espanol!!
