Christmas is in the air! it's a season of giving. a season of receiving. and a season of Christ!
Today has been one of those immensely interesting days that i just can't wrap my head around. there was just so much that happened.
first off: i feel like i looked dang cute at church today! just sayin. but getting ready for church was a nightmare. tomorrow marks the year mark for the day dad and i almost died. literally. the scariest day of my life.
as i got ready for church i kept thinking about Christmas and thus i thought of Grandmas and every time i thought of grandmas i re-lived our accident in my mind. it was really stressful. and then it continued happening at church. i almost had a panic attack in the middle of sacrament meeting. but luckily i calmed myself down. and got through it.
sunday school was pretty awesome. hearing peoples really great experiences of Christmas, times of giving and times of receiving.
i was feeling pretty anxious again in relief society but nothing i couldn't handle. and i had the Packers losing to distract me. (so really, my comment about the religion of the NFL wasn't hypocritical, i was trying to distract myself from my anxiety of the trip.
the packers lost. i was devastated for about 5 minutes. and then i got over it. i talked to mom and dad about my anxiety. mom said it would be okay, dad said the weather will be clear for the drive. they both knew exactly what to say to calm me down. i also talked to carol about anxiety, and she had some really great tips for calming yourself down.
i went visiting teaching! the Davis sisters are so neat. we had a good conversation. then i finished reading Elder Uchtdorf's talk from the Relief Society Broadcast, Forget Me Not. My visiting teachers stopped by, they gave me delicious cookies that i didn't even get to try. and then my home teachers came! they are so awesome!! we just talked about all this random stuff. and then we had a good discussion during the lesson, and then i got a blessing! what a blessing a blessing can be! i am officially mentally/emotionally prepared for the trip this week. i have faith that we will make it unharmed.
Carol made Hawaiian Haystacks for dinner, Berline came over for dinner, tony even stayed downstairs to eat with us! it was a great dinner. I made another Peppermint Cheesecake for dessert. it was a HIT!
i've started playing a song from Jon Schimdts Christmas piano book. called Christmas Medley. i haven't even heard it before, but i can actually almost play it. not well by any means, but i can play it better than the Christmas hymns (those are dang hard for me for some reason) piano is so relaxing and calming for me. i love how it makes me feel.
have i already told you that my shoulder has started hurting? yeah back in march/april i hurt my shoulder at work. i had to go back to physical therapy for it, and i strengthened the muscles and it got better. well apparently i did something wrong last week because my collarbone has really started to ache. not as bad as it did when we were in Hawaii, but it sure does hurt. and now it's BOTH shoulder/collarbone regions. it's terrible!
tonight i was watching SportsCenter doing nothing with my life, so i decided to go look at Christmas lights. Ellie came with me. we drove around for an hour and a half looking at and analyzing houses for their Christmas lights. it was so fun! we jammed to Christmas music the whole time. it was even snow flurrying for a little bit. it was nearly perfect. except perfection would've been a guy driving and i just looking. lol. but it's okay i couldn't ask for a better night.
when i came home tony and i were hangin out in our room. (have you ever shared a room with your brother or sister (whichever is the opposite sex)?! i have. twice now. eric and i shared a room for... a couple months? while he and dad built his room in the basement. a 16 yr old girl and a 20 yr old guy. it sounds a lot more awkward than it seemed at the time. now tony and i are sharing this room. this is a lot closer quarters than eric and i had it, we kinda had two separate rooms because of the way that room is designed. this one poor tony is sleeping on the floor. but its fun. saturday night tony and i both sat on my bed for nearly 2 hours... in near silence. i laughed a commented on it and he just responded "it's the way we were raised" what does that mean!? we can be a very talkative family!
well i joined tony on the floor and we watched Contagion. it was pretty great!! sad. but great. i liked it, a lot. i'd be interested in watching it with dad. to get the Virologists view of it all.
alright. sweet dreams.
