i put Angelina Jolie as my desktop picture. I think she is absolutely beautiful. sure that is because of surgeries and such but i dont care. if anyone ever happens to comment that i look like a celebrity, she is that celebrity. i put her as my desktop to inspire me. to be the best person i can be. i know, that may seem odd. but i should be trying to be the most beautiful i can be. not in a 'i need to take 3 hours to do my makeup' kind of way. but meh, idk. but then if you look at angelinas life, she works with the United Nations. she has adopted a bunch of kids. besides being a kick-awesome actress, she does a lot of good in the world.Every night as i lay in bed trying to sleep, i play solitaire. (i am my mothers daughter) and i was thinking about it one day. I totally cheat sometimes. well all the time. i always have it flip over one card instead of three. but if a card flipped over and it was a red 8 and i had two black 7s already with piles on it. i'll place one 7 just to see what moves i would be able to play after it. and then i'll click 'undo' until i get back to the blank 8 and i try the other 7 to see what i could get there. as i did this process one night i realized this is not like real life at all. each action we make in life, affects everything we do after that. and unlike this game, you cannot go back and 'undo' what you did and try another card. you can only make a decision, stick with it, and live with the consequences. i love that i'm realized this principle taught all the time, in the smallest inconsequential things. i love it.
So incase you missed it (but i dont know how you did) Steve Jobs died this week. I texted my family and said something like 'rest in peace Steve jobs. you have forever changed my life by the products you designed' and lynns response: 'amen.' we laughed that it may be a tad sacrilegious to say that, but it's so true! there has been a mac product in the possession of our family as long as i can remember.
our first computer ever, back in La Crosse, was a mac! i remembered playing Oregon Trail and Shufflepuck on the black and white screened mac. i remember having a flower power imac in Hawaii. we've had ipods, mini ipods, ipod shuffles, ipod touch, ipad, imac, macbook pro, the list goes on (thanks to lynns family haha) but mac is a serious staple in todays society. and we can thank Steve Jobs for that. he did so much in the progress of technology, and i am forever thankful for that.http://abcnews.go.com/Technology/steve-jobs-apple-ceo-dies/story?id=14383813
i washed my sheets this week. ash's idea, since i was sick. as i got better i needed to wash my sheets to get rid of the sick germs. (idk what dad would have to say about that) but i climbed in bed that night and just kept taking deep breaths. i love the smell of clean sheets! and dad bought me some wonderful scented laundry detergent that made it even better!!
it snowed this week! as you know, i posted pictures.
thursday night (i think) i set up my five bulb crazy lamp. i had been thinking my room was so dark, i couldn't see very well. i turned my lamp on and it was like an 'ah-ha' moment! there was so much light!! and THEN i looked up and realized two bulbs in my fan light were out. thus the extreme darkness. so i changed the dead bulbs and put a brighter bulb in one of the other spots. 8 lightbulbs later, my life is literally and figuratively brighter. because seriously. as soon as i turned my lamp on, i felt happier. there really is something to be said for having light in your life. I could never live in Alaska in winter because i need light. i love light. and i love the Light of Christ. and i love that i have it in my life. what a blessing, i wish i could share it with everyone important to me!
alright, on to the last couple days, in reverse order:
i woke up way early for a saturday. but for a very very good reason... i had breakfast with Nikka!! she was in town for last night and part of today, and she had time to see me. i love that girl. she makes me laugh so much, and feel so loved. our server at ihop was totally hitting on us. and i loved it. idk, it was just funny to me. such an odd experience, never happens to me. we went down to Gateway and i found some shirts, i took the jewelry addicted nikka into forever 21. it's like taking an alcoholic into a bar. BUT she had the willpower to buy nothing. i on the other hand bought a cute necklace and ring. their prices are just too good to pass up!
i came home and kind of got in a slump. i was cold, tired, and i just got kinda down. but i got on pintrest and decided i needed to do a craft. so i searched. and searched. and found some cute ones! so i went out to find a craft store to buy what i needed. and i found... walmart. bleh. but i got what i could. maybe i'll try it tomorrow. it's just for some ribbon headband thing.
Rachel and michael came over this evening! we had a good time. liz, rachel and i went and got Five Guys burgers and fries for everybody. she is so fun, and little michael is adorable!
brady came over and made a bonfire for us. liz and brady had s'mores. then the sprinklers came on. too funny. but we just went inside and talked for a long time. it was really fun. a ton more fun than going to bed at 10 like i prolly would've done.
Last night Ash and i had a girls night! well, first i took medicine to Tony. he's super sick. poor congested little guy. :-( then ash and i got together and tried to figure out what to eat. we decided on ihop. (yep, twice within 12 hours) and i freaking love that place! then we came home and painted nails and watched New Girl and Glee. i dont know about her, but i had a lot of fun. i'm so glad she is my sister. and i'm glad she's willing to spend time with me.
i start teaching as an interventionist on monday!! eeeks!! i'm nervous but also very excited. oh, incase i didn't tell you, i ended up just observing and preparing this last week. we finally got our class room (it's actually a storage closet), with tables (just waiting on chairs). i got my lesson materials all ready, and now i'm just so excited to meet my kids and start teaching!!
i had orientation at the other job yesterday. that one makes me nervous but excited. she said all the girl SDS have a blast! and i can't wait to help little kids.
ahhhh i LOVE my jobs! i'm glad i was able to get jobs that work with kids, that are teaching and guiding, and i know i'm gonna learn so much from everyone i work with. i can't wait!!
alright. i need to get some sleep. i'm making a chocolate caramel trifle for dessert tomorrow!! so excited!!!

p.s. i started listening to my O-Town pandora station while i added pics. and i can i just say, i MISS the boy band days. having 98degrees, backstreet boys, n'sync, etc. serenade me with songs about how much they love me; who doesn't love that?! haha but really, i miss those days. i'm bringing the boy bands back into my life.
READYGO!
