So one of the first weeks being in this ward i went to a game night where i DOMINATED Battle of the Sexes. i can't remember if i've talked about that. well the next day one of the guys i was playing with asked me if he could set me up with his old roommate from college... that happened to also be from my home stake. "sure!" i said. thinking 'what's the worst that could happen?!' of course i immediately consulted my girls from the stake, asking if they knew him, and what they knew about him since i'd never met him. (it's Jake Lindner, for those of you who DO know him)
so last night i got to hang out with them.
We went shooting (my first time ever) and it was way fun!! i shot two non-moving targets.... no moving targets but that's okay. and i was TERRIBLE at throwing the clay pigeons. it was rather hilarious to watch me. i was cracking everyone up with how bad i was.
on our way back from shooting we went Jeeping. first time with that too. also very fun. when i wasn't looking down the huge canyon right next to us. Matt has a very sweet Jeep that is made for that sort of thing. we went down some hills and stuff that blew my mind! it was insane!! haha we all laughed and movie quoted and had an awesome time. i got to know Emilee (a girl in my ward that i thought didn't like me) a lot better and that was really good.
then we went bowling. i forewarned the group that the last time i bowled, i bowled a 25 so don't expect too much from me. last night i bowled a 48!! AND i got a strike!! mind... BLOWN. it was awesome!! the rest of the group was very competitive, but per usual i was just there to have fun. i would celebrate when i got a gutter ball just as much as when i'd hit pins haha. then we played at the arcade for awhile.... played my first shooting game. had way too much fun with that lol.
then we went back to Matts for a movie. Jake and i talked through an entire movie. it was so fun!! it was nice to be able to talk to a guy that understands Wisconsin, and everything that comes with growing up there. we talked about all sorts of things and found out how much we have in common. coming home at 2:30am may not have been the greatest idea ever seeing how i can't sleep in... but it was all totally worth it!!
and now this morning i made Banana Pancakes while i jammed to Jack Johnson. i'm fully converted to banana pancakes. i honestly don't know if i'll ever want normal pancakes again. they were SO good! the banana flavor and texture made then divine!
yesterday was EVEN better because i got to see my Wisconsin girls!! Jodi and i met up in Draper, and then Sammi called and we met them at Culvers. They were on their way to the Burg. it was SO fun to see them! to talk with all of them update each other on the stake gossip, and just talk!! i love those girls! Jodi and i were talking about how great it is that we're all here together. i think it's so important to have people in your life that know you like that, we have known each other for so long, we've seen how we've all grown and developed and matured. we know first hand the good and bad of our lives, no explanation needed for so many things in life. it's such a blessing to have them nearby! i love them so SO much. and i don't know if i'd survive with out them.
alright folks, i gotta go get ready for church. hope you enjoyed the post! love you all!!
