mom and gradma flew in a few hours after my last post. eric, mom, tony and i ate at charlie chows chinese or something like that. we had delish mongolian bbq style food. we saw ash at work! i seriously love the SLC library. there was a couple getting their wedding pics there. genius.
i loved sitting around talking with carol, liz, mom and g-ma. we did it most nights, and it was a blast! we talked about so many things. i never knew grandma loved dancing with the stars. learn something new about your 80+ year old g-ma every day! haha
saturday we went boating with some awesome guys from the ward. i had a BLAST. still regret not suiting up. but considering i still went to urgent care sunday afternoon, i'm glad i didn't. saturday night was miserable enough as it was. i hate being sick. yuck. but i love medicine that helps. i'm on steroids, what!? no big deal.
monday i had a blast with mom and eric and ash. we went and hiked to a waterfall. eric and i got some awesome pics! we've got skills. (pics to come, when i remember to bring my camera in) i love spending time with my family. we picked the sicky ash up and had some amazing OG. soup salad and breadsticks is my fav. we camera shopped. my 60D is still the best decision i've ever made. okay, maybe not ever. but it's was a pretty big one.
we had a huge family dinner at scotts in holladay. lots of family. i'm so glad mom has a big family, so i have a big family. and it's still getting bigger! cousins having kids, some of us still have to get married. Jefferson reunions will be near impossible soon. of not already.
today... i cried too much. mom and grandma flew out at 2:30 this afternoon. i left for work at 7:30 and didn't get out till 2:35. so obviously, when i said 'bye' for work, i wouldn't be seeing my mom until i honestly have no idea when. i cried on my way to work. i cried on my way home from work. dang. i'm 23. my mother is a serious foundation in my life. i was more homesick today than i have been the whole month i've been here.
BUT i cured my homesickness. a Culvers strawberry lemon ice cooler did just the trick. and a drive down to wherever the heck Culvers is. PLUS i went up to Layton and had Red Robin (yumm) with Jodi! i love being with her. watching Glee and New Girl tonight with carol and liz didn't hurt my mood either. :-)
OH happy news: Carol said i could live here! i dont have to find some apartment with girls i dont know. *happy dance!!*
i talked to dad today. Elis soccer update of the week. his coach is seriously ridiculous. if i could, i'd punch the guy in the face. but i think he'd punch me into the ground. i'll let dad write one of his bridge burning letters or something. but seriously. i love my dad. he's such a great guy. he's so freaking smart!
OKAY so what you've all been waiting for. DUN DUN DUN. first day of work....
overwhelming. i'll be teaching groups ranging from 1-5 kids and ranging from 1st to 6th grade. I'll be teaching them to read and write. anyone that isn't proficient to where they should be for their age/grade is sent to the Interventionists part of every day. I know it is a very needed and important thing, but I feel totally unprepared. i have NO education background. i was a psych major, not a education major. :-/
but i have the best hours ever! 10am to 2:20 most days and 9-1:10 one day? amazing! i can freaking sleep in!!
i start my other job next week. talk about NERVOUS. but it's okay. i'll be coming off a spiritual high of general conference. i'm so excited.
are you ready for GC? do you have your questions you're waiting to get answered? i do.
i think Sammi said i've got a ticket for saturday afternoon!! i'm so wickedly excited!! i love being in the conference center.
alright whoever is reading this. again, i'm sorry for my rambling. but now you understand who i really am, just a little bit better. thanks for reading... you should definitely comment too! haha
